About
sineqube ...
I have a deep interest in sound of all kinds, and as a result try to incorporate any type of instrument or noise-maker I can into my music. Like many modern musicians and composers, I feel there is music all around us -- we only need to perk up our ears to hear the symphonies of our daily lives. To that end, I've used everything from the sound of a sheet music stand falling over to fingernail clipping in constructing my pieces. With the advent of technology, I'm certainly not the only musician to fuse abstract sounds with more conventional approaches. But I humbly hope that some of my work resonates with listeners in a new and interesting way. My formal training is in music theory, composition, synthesis, and guitar, but I spend most of my days trying to discover the intricacies of any sound device I happen across, whether they be traditional instruments, toys, or anything in between. Here are some of the tools I employ: Fender, Breedlove, and Danelectro guitars; Peavey bass; Alesis Ion and Micron; Korg EMX1 and Kaossilator; Electro-Harmonix HOG Guitar Synth; Ebow; Boss RC-2 Loop Station; Logic Studio Pro; Max/MSP using home-made patches and applications; Traxxpad for the PSP; toy accordion; toy xylophone; doumbek; 19-string lap harp; Casio PT-1; crystal flute; kalimba; etc. Though I make no judgements, I personally don't use any loops in my composition that I haven't made myself. In addition to writing music I dabble in releasing music software made with Max/MSP. It is my hope that in keeping these apps free or cheap, I can help other musicians on a tight budget realize their vision. I love hearing music made with my programs so feel free to give me links to your work if you use any of the applications you may find at my site. I've written over 400 pieces of music to date; scored for a television pilot, traditional orchestra, film, and websites; written several different Macintosh music applications with Max/MSP; and gigged for 18 years. If you'd like to commission music or software work, or book me for a gig, please get in touch via the contact page. |
